Adult Invisalign

Invisalign Pros and Cons for Older Adults

It can be hard to decide to make a change, especially when someone over the age of 18 decides on adult braces – especially if they have only known traditional braces growing up. The good news is that there are now more options for those who need orthodontic care, including clear aligners. Invisalign is a brand of clear aligners that many orthodontic patients opt for in lieu of traditional metal braces. While the brand is well known, what exactly are the Invisalign pros and cons, and how do they differ when talking about Invisalign for adults vs. Invisalign for teens?

Invisalign Pros and Cons for Adults

When it comes to Invisalign for teens, there are rarely any negatives. Especially considering their ease of use and the fact that they are nearly impossible to detect and do not require the bulky materials that traditional braces do. However, are there any additional Invisalign pros and cons when it comes to Invisalign for adults?

Pros of Invisalign for Adults

When it comes to orthodontic treatments for adults, Invisalign for adults is quickly becoming the most popular choice. Not only are they a well-known brand with an impeccable reputation and superior technology to back it up, but they have several advantages. This is even more evident when compared to traditional metal braces.

The most common pros when it comes to Invisalign for adults include:

  • They are nearly invisible in appearance
  • Easy to remove for pictures/events and for eating
  • Just as effective as traditional braces
  • Often achieve the same results as traditional braces in a short time frame

Cons of Invisalign for Adults

A few of the most notable cons of Invisalign, which are practically inconsequential, include:

  • The time to clean your clear aligners and your teeth are virtually the same
  • Removing them too often can introduce wearer error, causing a delay in your final results

  1. I like how you stated that Invisalign is very clear and nearly invisible in its appearance. This could really help me get over the fact that I need treatment for my crooked teeth, something that has made me conscious about my appearance for a long time. I’ll definitely start looking for dentists in the area that can help me get a set of these right away.

  2. I really liked the part of your article that talked about how much easier it is to remove and put back on whenever needed. As someone with a lot of client meetings and dinner parties planned ahead, I’ll need something like this to make sure I can fix my teeth problem without compromising my appearance. I’ll look for an Invisalign dentist right away so I can have this prepared in advance.

  3. One thing no site addresses is how they do not breathe and you really need to step up your oral hygiene to avoid damage to your teeth and gums. I am in my 50s and have been wearing invisaligns for almost a year. My dentist has commented on how much worse my gum health is and says its due to bacteria gathering in the trays while I sleep and during the day (I do not take them out except for breakfast and dinner, and brush and floss before putting them back in). I really feel like they are ruining my teeth and would think again before signing up.

    1. Hello
      I’m wondering how you’re doing.
      I’m considering getting invisilgns
but am concerned about gum disease.
I’m 68 years old, and have had periodontal issues
      in the past.
      Thanks for your post.
