Dr. Larrabee and patient

Your first visit to Advanced Orthodontics is an exciting time! This is our chance to get acquainted, and it’s an important opportunity for you to learn all about the treatments and services we offer. We may look similar to your dentist’s office, but what we do here is a little bit different. Here’s what you can expect from your very first visit with us:

Your initial orthodontic evaluation will generally last about an hour, we want to give you plenty of time to ask questions without feeling rushed, so we’ll take as much time as you need to feel comfortable! You’ll meet with one of our receptionists or patient coordinators first, and they’ll get some information from you before bringing you through the office.

Next, our records technician will take photographs of your teeth in their present state, followed by our 3-D x-ray imaging. These records allow Dr. Larrabee to see what is going on beneath the surface of the gums. Many times, it’s not what you can see, but what you can’t see that determines the need for treatment.

At this point, it’s time for the actual exam! We’ll look at your records and images, and Dr. Larrabee will perform a careful examination. During this time, we may also ask questions, such as if your jaws make any noise when the mouth is opening or closing, or if you’ve been having any problems chewing or swallowing. Taken together with any x-rays and photographs, this information will allow us to make a proper diagnosis and finalize your treatment plan.

Following the exam, if there are issues we find that need correcting, we’ll discuss recommended treatment with you. Once all your questions and concerned have been addressed, we’ll initiate treatment that same day if you’re ready! Your time is of the utmost value to us and we are happy to save you a second trip to the office.
